1930-2019

Peacefully at the L&A Hospital Napanee, with her family at her side on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in her 89th year.  Predeceased in 2014 by her best friend and loving husband George Henry Hornbeek.  Cherished mother of David (Regina), June Rahim (Masood), Roger, Glenda Andrews (Geoff), Wesley, Joe (Claudia).  Dear grandmother of Pierce (Amanda), Penning, Jonathan, Christopher (Nadine), Benjamin (Sarah), Kate (Lee) and Natalia.  Cherished great grandma of Andre, Nathan and Shelby.  Dear sister of Jack (late Roberta), Lorraine Embury (Sonny), Don (late Elsie), Wayne (Carolyn), Ronnie (Bev), Linda Ackerman (Finley), sister-in-laws Wilma and Eileen, and brother-in-law Sterling Allen.  Predeceased by her parents John and Gwendolyn (nee Scales), son Arthur, granddaughter Esther, siblings Wendell, Gordon, James, Sharon Allen, Margaret Thompson, brother-in-law Reg, as well as an infant brother.  Verna will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, other family and friends.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to CBI nursing, especially Kendra, Community Care Staff, Smile Program, L&A Hospice as well as the doctors and nurses at the L&A Hospital.  Family and friends will be received at the Trousdale Funeral Home in Sydenham on Monday, June 10, 2019 between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm.   Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 11:00 am in the chapel.  Interment to follow at the Harrowsmith Cemetery.   Memorial donation may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Heart & Stoke in memory of Verna
