Passed away peacefully at home July 23, 2023, surrounded by family and close friends. Ed, beloved husband of Sarah (nee Groenewegen). Loving and proud father to Alex, Casey and Sloan. Dear son of Anne Marie and the late Edward Sr. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Cindy Botham (Jody), Michelle Winter (Jeff), Paula Simpson (Eric) and Heather Minton (Jazzy). Son-in-law of Casey and Rosemary Groenewegen. Will be missed by his sisters-in-law Becky Groenewegen (Doug Rutledge), Molly Slate (Adam) and Hannah Groenewegen (Jeff Leroux). Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Courtney and Lindsey Botham, Emerson and Annabelle Winter, Colin, Olivia and Blake Simpson, Kiley McFie (Taylor), Gabriella and Lillian Slate, Cheyenne, Georgia, Savannah and Waylon Leroux and great-nephew Houston McFie and many friends. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Church 3977 Sydenham Road, Railton, Ontario on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Harrowsmith Cemetery, 4195 Colebrooke Road, Harrowsmith, Ontario. The family would like to Thank Dr. Angela Fung and Dr. Martin Koreniowski from the Cancer Centre, Nurse Practitioner Valerie Cooper and Palliative Care Dr. Kate Koester for all of their care and compassion. Memorial donations in Ed’s name to UHKF-Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario Suite#4-55 Rideau Street, Kingston, Ontario K7K 2Z8 would be appreciated by the family.
