Fay Vandewal

Fay passed peacefully with family by her side on March 25, 2025. After a brief but valiant battle with cancer. 

She is survived by her loving children Matt Veley(Jen), Dan Veley(Veronica), Rachael Vandewal(Tylor) and Scott Babcock(Lucie). Fay will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren Olivia, Jessica, Wyatt, Henry, Jack, Isabelle and Abigal. Fay is survived by her siblings Audrey Sortberg (late John), Muriel Tisdale (late Garnet), Mary Leach (late Bob), Stan Babcock, Bill Babcock, and Terry Babcock (Cheryl). Fay is predeceased by her brother Neil Babcock (Marlene) and her devoted second husband Walt Vandewal.

Fay will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends. 

The fire was always warm and the food and drink plenty. It gave her great joy to cook for and feed the many. Making her home a welcoming break and her a soft landing place for many. With her easy going way of listening, firing a witty comment or some honest life advice. She was always there.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Napanee General hospital for their exceptional care of our mother.

All are welcome to attend a celebration of her life on Sunday March 30, 2025 from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Sydenham Legion Branch 496. Due to weather conditions, we will still be having the Celebration of Life but please do not feel obligated to attend as we will be doing another celebration in the summer. A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 24, 2025 from the hours of 1 P.M. - 4 P.M. at the Golden Links Hall in Harrowsmith . Bring a story, share a memory, come out and help us honor her and a life well lived.
