September 7, 1957 – January 25, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Guy on January 25, 2021 at Kingston General Hospital.
Guy is survived and will be remembered by his son Réjean (and Réjean’s mother Carrie Batt), siblings Michelle (Dan Chatham), Roland (Lyette), Jacqueline, Jacques, and sister-in-law Gisèle Lapointe; nieces Natalie and Janelle Janzen (Mitchel); nephews Alain (Natalie) and Mario, great nieces Olivia and Audrey, cousins, his roommate John and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jeffrey and Armande, and his brother Paul Émile.
Guy grew up in St Vital on Hastings Blvd, attended École St. Eugène, École Précieux-Sang, and attended Red River College where he obtained his Surveyor’s licence. He is remembered for living life on his own terms, his love of life, his sense of humour, being charming, kind and having the gift of the gab/being personable. He enjoyed cooking, reading, playing chess, watching and playing sports (tennis in the summer, basketball in the autumn, hockey in the winter, golf in the summer). He was an audiophile afficionado, music historian buff extraordinaire (particularly jazz, progressive, and fusion) and an avid stereo electronics enthusiast. He would often volunteer at the Jazz Festival. Guy’s favourite bird was an owl which makes sense since he was a night owl.
Thank you to John Roy for taking care of Guy and Cathy MacGillivary for setting up the zoom meeting so we could say goodbye.
If desired, donations in Guy’s memory can be made to Kingston Youth Shelter (www. kingstonyouthshelter.com), or a charity of your choice.
