Gwendolyn Martin Obituary

Gwendolyn Alice Martin (nee Brown)

May 1, 1937 – December 18, 2025

Gwendolyn Martin (nee Brown) passed away peacefully the evening of December 18, 2025, in Kingston, Ontario. Born on May 1, 1937, to parents Percy Brown and Charlotte (Lottie) Brown in the picturesque town of Victoria Harbour, Ontario, Gwendolyn spent her happy childhood and teen years in Sydenham and most of her adult life in the lovely rural community of Holleford, Ontario.

Gwen’s journey through life was shared with her beloved husband of 67 years, Steve, with whom she built an enduring partnership. Together, they lovingly raised their devoted children, Kathy, Jamie, and Randy (Miriam). Her grandchildren, Jordan (Yvonne), Genny (Jeff), Heather (Coby), and Nathan were the apples of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Recently her family welcomed her first great-grandchild Leo. Gwen is predeceased by her brothers Vic Brown and  Ron Brown and survived by her sister Elaine Parrot and brother Dale Brown.

A woman of many passions, Gwen found solace in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid knitter, creating countless pieces that warmed the hearts and bodies of those she loved. Her vegetable garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing nature, providing bountiful harvests that she generously shared with family, neighbours and friends. Gwendolyn also loved reading and doing the daily newspaper crossword. Gwen, it should be noted, had a wry sense of humour (sometimes downright sassy) often times revealed only through a slight grin and a  twinkle in her eyes.

In every aspect of her life, Gwendolyn embodied a loving and spirited nature with a wonderful sense of humour. Her presence was a comfort, her guidance a compass, and her love a foundation that will continue to support her family through the years. While she may have departed from this world, the impact of her love, laughter, and spirited nature will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As we bid farewell to Gwen Martin, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of joy, love, and cherished moments. Her memory will be held close in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her extraordinary spirit.

There will be a visitation on Saturday January 3, 2026  1:00-4:00 at Trousdale Funeral Home, 4374 Mill Street, Sydenham. A private internment ceremony will be held in the Spring.
