Jack David Hill
August 14, 1935 - November 5, 2018
Jack, in his 84th year, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him the most at Providence Care Hospital after a courageous long battle with cancer.
Beloved husband of Joyce Hill for sixty years, treasured Father of Jacquie Brown and Caroline Keyes (Dean). Also, survived by sisters Marnie Woolfrey and Susan Murphy (Neil). Cherished Grandad to Emily, Lyndsey, Julie, Jordan and Lauren, and favourite Uncle to three generations of nieces and nephews.
Born in Luton, Bedfordshire, England he had a successful career as a Master Builder and Mason. His career was interrupted for two years when he completed his National Service with the Royal Engineers in Cyprus and the Middle East.
He later on moved with his family in 1972 to Canada, to be with other family and continued his career as a General Builder. Jack was an avid golfer, gardener and grower of prize chrysanthemums, and a lover of birds and nature. Those who crossed his path will always remember his British sense of humour, and his cheeky wit. Later in life Jack was an active member of the Senior’s Association of Kingston and was the Scrabble Facilitator extraordinaire.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Harle, Dr. Gregg, Dr. Nickel and all the other health care professionals who took such good care of Jack. At Jack’s wishes a cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat. Nov. 24 from 2:00-4:30pm in the gym at the Kingston Seniors Association, 55 Francis St, Kingston (bring memories for sharing at 3:00). As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) or the Kingston Seniors Association.
