Johannes "John" Van Den Hoogen Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of John (Johannes) Peter Van Den Hoogen (Husband, Father, Papa and Great Opa) announce his passing on August 22nd, 2022.  He passed at the age of 82 with family by his side.

He will be remembered by his family and friends for his sarcastic humour, love of pranks, strong opinion, and even stronger work ethic.  Big supporter of the underdog! He may have seemed tough on the outside but inside had a very compassionate heart.  He went out of his way to make sure others were heard, treated fairly, and checked in on those that were alone.  He was a hero that thought nothing of putting himself at risk saving co-workers at a work accident and pulling people from a burning car.  But most of all he loved his family, his wife/best friend Marlene, and dog Maddie.

He was born on January 11th, 1941, in Oss, Netherlands. He later moved to Canada where he met and married Marlene in 1963.

Beloved husband and best friend of Marlene Van Den Hoogen (Priestly).  Proud father to Christine, Coleen and Jennifer.  Respected father-in-law/friend to Jim and Steve.  Lovingly remembered by those that called him Papa, Jacob (Annie), Sarah, Corinne (Brenden), Katherine (Letura) and step-grandson Josh (Keelan). Adored by his great-grandchildren that called him Opa, Kaelynn, Harlow, Rhett, Henley, Sawyer and Brynn. Also remembered by his extended family back home in the Netherlands.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later time.
