Keith Ward King, age 85, of Kingston, passed away March 17th 2020, after a short illness. He was born in North Augusta, Ontario on November 7th 1934, son of the late Roy King and Lola Bolton. He was predeceased by his wife Marion. He is survived by his sisters Irene Pomeroy and Marie Young. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other multiple generations of family. His companion and caretaker of several years Richard Chen will miss him. Keith was one of nine children in the King family and was predeceased by six other siblings – Edith, Allen, Charles, Reg, Bolton, and Doris.
Keith was long retired from a successful lifelong career at the Kingston Psychiatric Hospital. A natural mechanical wizard, he could fix anything, and eagerly accepted a challenge to do so. In his youth he loved fast cars and motorcycles, and continued a car collector into his old age. A lifetime of membership in the Masonic Lodge and an extra special commitment to the Kingston Shrine Club, dominated much of Keith’s life.
Possibly it was appropriate that Keith passed on St. Patrick’s Day – he had spent many years researching the King Family history and its roots to Northern Ireland. He was proud of his heritage and willing to spend huge amounts of time discussing it with other family members and friends. He was also an avid reader and lifelong learner – learning to play the fiddle after 50. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Service and internment will take place at a later date in the spring at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Maitland, Ontario.
