In Memoriam: Gàbor (Michael) Vajda (1939-2024)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gàbor (Michael) Vajda, who passed away at home surrounded by his family, on October 5, 2024, in Frankford, Ontario, at the age of 85. Born on June 10, 1939, in Vác, Hungary, Mike immigrated to Canada, where he built a life filled with love and family.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Johanna Vajda, and their four children: Tammy (Derek), Michael (Renée), Christopher (Chery), and Josie (Erv). He was a proud grandfather to Desirée (Jeremy), Cassaundra (Kyle), Chad (Jasmine), Cameron, Alex (Shannon), and Jessie (Trevor), and a cherished great-grandfather to Luke, Reed, Oliver, Bowen, Riggs, and Jeana. He is also survived by his nephews, Steve and Laszlo Vajda.

As we remember him, let us celebrate the legacy of love and togetherness he leaves behind.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward.
