Ralph Abrams Obituary

Abrams, Ralph William -1930 – 2019

Retired Corrections Officer

It is with a saddened heart, we say goodbye to husband and father Ralph Abrams.  After nearly 68 years of marriage, Ralph, in his 90th year, passed away at Fairmount Home, on March 14, 2019.  He passed peacefully into the arms of his beloved mother, surrounded by his devoted wife and daughters.  He will be deeply missed by his wife Doreen (Ryan), and his daughters Lynne (David), Elaine (Lynn), and Sherrie (Jaime).

Ralph, the 2nd son of Bill and Jean (Leavens) Abrams will also be sadly missed by his siblings Don (Charlotte), Alice, Bernice (Dave), Leslie (Karen) and sister-in-law, Norma.  He was predeceased by his brother Lyle, brother-in-law, Ray Timmerman and sister-in-law, Gertie Abrams. The passing of Ralph is also mourned by the Ryan family,

Ralph enjoyed time with his grandchildren Jennie (Greg), Kyle, Derek (Kat), Jacquie (Farsad), Julia (Luke) and great-grandchildren Shaylee, Krew, Ryan, Ben, Sam, Max, Felix and the arrival of another great-grandson in May.  All the grandchildren so loved their grandfather!  As well, Ralph spoke often of the many fond memories with the Abrams and Ryan nieces and nephews.

There is a deep hole in the heart of the Holleford community, where Ralph was lovingly referred to as “The Mayor”.

After working for 32 years at Corrections Canada, Ralph then spent 34 retirement years enjoying his true passion, living on the farm, caring for his animals, or visiting with any friend who stopped by to visit “God’s Country”.

Visitation will be at the Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church (3876 Harrowsmith Road) on Friday March 22, 2019 from 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturday March 23 from 2 – 4 p.m. preceding the Celebration of Life Service at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice.
