It is with deep love and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Sylvia Deanna White (Deanna), lovingly known as “Gma,” on May 26, 2026, at the age of 87.
She was a devoted mother of Shane (Liz) and Kim. Cherished Grandmother of Christianne, Ryan, Mahlina (Tom), and Jocelyn. Proud Great-Grandmother of Zoe, Brooklyn, and Lilly. Dear sister of George (Andi). Predeceased by her sisters Marjorie and Peggy (Edward), nephew Dean and Grandson (Adam). Survived by her brother-in-law John and many beloved nieces and nephews, Debbie, Tammy (Brian), Rob (Mary), Laura (Wayne), and Stephen.
Deanna was fiercely independent and spent time in many places throughout her life, although her heart was always at her seasonal cottage on Devil Lake — the place she considered home.
She was an avid gardener and created hundreds of beautiful flower arrangements each summer. She had a unique appreciation for all things nature.
Deanna worked as a nurse at Ontario Hospital, Kingston, later known as Kingston Psychiatric Hospital (KPH), where she believed in treating everyone fairly, made a lasting impact on those entrusted to her care, and often went above and beyond in her duties as a nurse.
She often found joy in quiet evenings by the lake with a glass of white wine as she watched the sunset. She especially loved her antique possessions and was a collector of all sorts.
Deanna will be remembered for her strength and resilience, especially during her later years.
The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Fairmount Homes for their kindness, patience, and compassionate care.
Donations may be made to Campfire Circle (a children’s cancer charity), as per Deanna’s wishes.
A visitation will be held on June 6th at Trousdale Funeral Home at from 11 am – 1 pm, followed by a graveside service at Sydenham cemetery and celebration of life at the Golden Links Hall Harrowsmith
