It’s with broken hearts that the family of Vern William Fredrick Thibedeau announces he passed away suddenly on September 1st, 2023.
Vern was born July 27th, 1941 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
He enlisted with The Queens Own Rifles to the chagrin of his mother in 1959 where he served for three years. He married the love of his life, Sheila Martin January 25th, 1963 and they were inseparable from that day forward. They raised three children in Kingston Ontario where he had a very successful career with Correctional Service Canada. Vern retired in 1999 and it was at that time, he and Sheila decided to be adventurous by travelling Canada and the USA until settling back in Kingston. He was a successful author and entertained thousands of people every summer for the Kingston Pen Tours.
Vern is survived by his beloved wife Sheila, his sons Trevor, Les (Gillian) and daughter Cheryl (Scott). His grandchildren, Cameron & Ashley (Dale), Jake, Tyler (Erin), Kenna (Ryan), Adrian (Teresa), Jordan (Lucy), Nolan (Emma) & Dawson (Tamara). Great grandchildren, Riley, Brayden, Carter, Rylea, Kailey, Quentin & Scarlett. His brothers Jim (Barb) and Dan (Mary). Vern has too many relatives and friends to list here but you know who you are and we are very grateful for your condolences and support - Vern was very much loved and respected by many.
The celebration of this amazing man’s life will be November 25th, at 1 pm located at Legion Branch 613, 4034 Bath Rd, Kingston Ontario. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local veterans or Legion Branch. While there, please raise a glass to Vern.
