William Francis Votary, known to his loved ones as Bill, passed away on August 11, 2023, at the age of 94 in Perth Road Village, Ontario. Bill was born on October 20, 1928, in Sydenham, Ontario.
Bill was a hardworking, honest, and happy individual, known for his reliability and time-efficiency. He was a loving and creative man who possessed a strong faith. Bill was a devout Christian and found solace in his worship at church. Socializing with others, singing his hymns, and praising the lords name every Sunday.
In his career, Bill was renowned as a local bus driver for an impressive 50 years, maintaining a perfect driving record throughout. However, farming was Bill's true passion, and he dedicated his life to making syrup, and tending to the land from a young age until his final days.
Bill's personal and family relationships were of utmost importance to him. He was the beloved husband of Louisa Margaret Votary and cherished brother of late Clifford Votary, late Irene Hartman, Bob Votary, and Donna Meyers. Bill was the proud father of Randy Votary (Sandra), Judy Buckley (Dan), and Richard Votary. He was also a doting grandfather to Mae Pattemore (Phil), Brendan (Melissa), Kristin Buckley and Jon Buckley, Marty Votary, Garett Gruhl (Haley), Jemmah-Dawn Cotnam (Nick), Charity-Mae Catry (Sam), and Breanna Votary. Additionally, Bill was a great grandfather to Hudson and Ethan Kinnard, Wilson, River, and Sawyer Buckley, Jada and Ava Sauve, Callie Buckley and Vivian Cotnam.
Outside of his career and family, Bill found joy in various hobbies. He loved baking his bread every week, tending to his garden, caring for his animals-especially his ducks, attending church, and spending time with his family. When driving school bus, he loved all his children and never tired of waking up to drive them each day twice a day for as long as he did.
A visitation will be held between the hours of 10am – 1pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm on Thursday, August 17th, 2023. The services will take place at Holiness Church Camp 2815 Rutledge Rd #2781, Sydenham, ON K0H 2T0.
In memory of Bill Votary, the family kindly requests that any contributions be made to Sydenham Holiness Church Camp. Donations can be addressed to the camp in William's name.
Bill Votary's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He left an indelible mark on the community through his dedicated service, his unwavering smile, and his love for his family. May he rest in peace.
