Lois worked as an administrator at my high school, Bayridge Secondary, for 19 years. One of her jobs was operating the Ditto machine. To this day I can smell Ditto machine ink and see its pale blue print on paper and it reminds me of beautiful Lois - her kindness, compassion, laughter and smile.

Bob & Lois Purvis and their sons Tom, Larry and Ken were part of my extended family in Kingston in the 1970s. My brother Rick and I were in a bluegrass band with Tom and Ken and our friend Tim. We were a close knit group. Playing music at the Purvis home was one of the greatest joys of my teenage years. While Lois did not play an instrument, Bob Purvis played mandolin and bag pipes and other instruments. There were many parties and meals at the Purvis home. So many hours were spent hanging in the kitchen and talking ... Lois was a wonderful cook.

Lois and Bob opened their home to their son's friends and other students at Bayridge often (e.g., for cast parties). They were good listeners ... and adults we respected, trusted and could be ourselves with ... warts and all.

After high school, Ken played in two bands I fronted with Mary-Ellen Anderson, for about a decade (Two and Two-Penny Opera). He is a brilliant musician with a wicked sense of humour. All the Purvis boys loved music and laughter ... good food and drink, quality time with family and friends.

Godspeed Lois ... may your next adventure be full of love, laughter and music. You will not be forgotten, are fondly remembered and will be deeply missed. I am forever grateful that you and your family are bright, strong threads woven into the tapestry of my life.

Dear family, Tom, Larry, Ken, Grace and Bruce.
I was so sorry to read the passing of Lois. My thoughts have been with you in these passed
days.

It made me think of all the good times Bob and Lois, Pete and I had in our younger years.
Trip to New York, camping, lots of music and singing. Generally the good times we spent
together from 1949 - 1964. Also the nice times visiting Alberta and Ross at Wilton
and Marlbank. It is a sad time. My prayers are with you all. Phyllis
